Landfill Access Road & Bridge
Across Conococheague Creek
Washington County, MD
This project consisted of designing an access into the new Washington County, MD landfill. The road alignment consists of 2300 feet of approach roadway at U.S. Route 40, a 660-foot long bridge and 600 feet of approach roadway on landfill site. This design contract also included a complete hydrologic and hydraulic study; foundation and scour analysis, wetland and forest stand delineation study. Although this was a locally funded project, all designs were in accordance with the Maryland State Highway Administration standard design criteria and specifications. For its environmentally-sensitive design, AESI was recognized with the Washington County VISION Award for best overall design, at the 2003 Washington County Business Awards. The bridge is the longest county-owned bridge in Western Maryland.
Beilungang Fly Ash Silo,
Zhe Jiang, China
In this project, AESI teamed up with Allen-Sherman-Hoff as their concrete
silo design specialist. AESI provided the structural design of two (2)
32 ft. diameter x 92 ft high Fly-Ash Storage, concrete silos and a 20
ft. Fly-Ash Slurry Pond. Our design and analysis was based on UBC and
ANSI/ASCE building code with an assumed appropriate geographical location.
The final design was checked with local building design code. The construction
plans were detailed in metric units. This project was completed in 1998.

Friendship Technology Park
Friendship Technology Park is a 450-acre high tech campus currently housing
the Allegheny Energy Corporate Center. The Park is located south of Hagerstown,
Maryland in Washington County. AESI has completed topographic and boundary
surveys of the entire park, master planning, concept layouts and rezoning
concepts. The Park, once completed, will include a campus setting for
office buildings, research & development for technology firms and
educational opportunities. It is anticipated that the Park will also include
a Conference Center/Hotel and associated restaurants to serve the businesses
in the Park.
Bowman Development
AESI has worked on numerous projects for Bowman Development, including
residential, commercial and industrial sites. Our services have included
boundary and topographic surveys, planning and rezoning, concept layout,
site plan design, and permitting. The largest project, building size,
includes a 500,000 square foot warehouse and 25,000 square foot office
building on a 56-acre tract outside Hagerstown, Maryland. This project
includes State road improvements as well as on-site design efforts, such
as storm water management, grading, drainage, landscape architecture,
and Forest Conservation.
