Annual Washington County Business Awards Banquet March 5th, "Capitol Steps" to Perform

(Hagerstown, MD Feb. 11, 2003) -- The Annual Washington County Business Awards Banquet is scheduled for Wednesday March 5, 2003 at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center at Antietam Creek in Hagerstown. According to Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board James G. Pierné, "This fourth annual event is extremely important for our county. We urge everyone to attend what has become known as the 'Oscars' for our Washington County business community." The annual awards banquet is a joint effort of the Chamber and the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission. EDC Chair Doug Wright, Jr. said, "We are very proud to be celebrating the best of our business community once again with the Washington County Business Awards. It's critical that our involved and committed business organizations recognize the outstanding companies in our county. It's part of what makes Washington County a great place to live, work and play."

According to Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Fred Teeter, "We have been working on this special event for several months, and our judges have reviewed hundreds of nominations for the seven award categories. A great selection of finalists are vying for the top award in their categories." The Chamber's Business and Community Development Committee has been helping bring the event together. Volunteers from businesses throughout the community have been working on various parts of the awards celebration. "Many people have been working for months on this great event. A lot of thanks goes out to Greg Evans of Horizon Goodwill, Cindy Garland of Antietam Cable, David Abeles of Wachovia Securities (the awards sub-committee chairman), Tim Troxell of the EDC, and Tom Riford who will again be our MC this year. We also couldn't bring this event off without significant help from some wonderful sponsors. The Lead Sponsors include First Data Merchant Services and Antietam Cable TV. Our Associate Sponsors include F&M Bank and Trust, Fujicolor, Garden State Tanning, Hagerstown Trust, and Wachovia Securities. Our other sponsors include Associated Engineering Sciences, Inc., Hub Labels, Inc., Waypoint Bank, and Horizon Goodwill."
